A Cute, Inexpensive Baby Chick Nest Craft for Kids!
Tagged Tags: , , , ,

Need a super easy chick craft to add to your spring or Easter celebration?  This one is super easy and most of the items are upcycles, so you don’t have to break the piggy bank!  Read on to check it out!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

THE SUPPLIES:

  • 1 Cardboard Egg Carton
  • 1 Brown Paper Bag (an grocery bag or clean lunch bag should be enough)
  • 1 Bottle of Brown Paint
  • 1 Box of Mini Baby Chicks

THE TOOLS:

  • Scissors
  • Paint Brush

STEPS

STEP 1: Set up the Nest Base

Cut off the lid of the egg carton.  Then cut each of the egg cup portions so that you have 12 small ‘cups’. Then, paint each cup brown.

STEP 2: Create the Nest

Many natural nests are made up of twigs, grass, and other objects found in nature.  For our nest, we’ll use the brown paper bag shreds to represent the twigs.  Take the brown grocery or food bag and cut it into small strips – or use a shredder.  If you don’t have a bag, you could also use a strip of brown construction paper.

Arrange the shredded paper in the painted brown cup.

STEP 3: Add the Baby Chick!

Add one of the mini chicks into the nest!

STEP 4: Repeat!

Create a few more using some of the other chicks!
