An Easy & Inexpensive Frankenstein Pencil Holder – Step By Step

Looking for a simple and functional craft to create for the Halloween Season? This Frankenstein’s Monster craft is extremely simple and you may even have all the materials already!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

For this craft, we opted to use felt to give the craft more texture, but you could easily swap out the felt for construction paper.

THE SUPPLIES:

  • 1 Upcycled Tin Can
  • 1 Small Sheet of Green Felt
  • 1 Small Sheet of Black Felt
  • 2 Googly Eyes (Colored or Monster ones would work great if you have them)

THE TOOLS:

  • Scissors
  • Glue (Hot Glue works best but you’d need to help our your little ones)

STEPS

STEP 1: Create the Body

Clean out the Upcycled Tin & Ensure there aren’t any pointy areas.  Then cut the Green Felt Sheet in half (length-wise).  For most canned goods, one of the strips should be enough to wrap around the entire can.  Glue the felt in place.

STEP 2: Add the Hair

Cut out about a 1.5 inch strip of the Black Felt Sheet (length-wise).  For most canned goods, one of the strips should be enough to wrap around the entire can.  In the center of the strip, make a few cuts to the middle – this will be the hair.  The strips should be a bit haphazard to give a look and feel of messier hair.

STEP 3: Add the Face

Attach the googly eyes slightly underneath the ‘hair’.  Alternatively, you can also cut out some felt circles.  Cut out a mouth from the black felt & attach.

STEP 4: (Optionally) fill the can!

Fill the can with pencils for your desk or some utensils for a party!
