An Amazing (& Inexpensive), Magical Fairy Party for Kids

Welcome to one of our sweet, simple, & budget-friendly fairy parties with decorations, party food, crafts, and games perfect for any fairy-themed party!   Read on to check out these Dollar store and budget-friendly ideas!

DECORATIONS

Photo backdrops are a great way of setting a theme and double as a nice and easy activity.  For our fairy party, we picked a magical forest scene and had a few Dollar Tree fairy wings out for kids to use for both the photos as well as throughout the party.

We also picked up a good chunk of our items from the Dollar Tree and used them both for decorations around the table as well as crafts and activities later on in the party. The fairy items from the Dollar Tree are a bit lighter than what you might find in some other craft stores, but we were able to buy a mini house along with some other accessories so each kid could create their own mini fairy garden.

We set up our tables with a few fairy items mixed with some solid colors: Fairy Tablecloth, Fairy Dessert Plates, Fairy Napkins, and Fairy Cups.  We also had a mini gold bell by each table setting to match the tableware.  As our centerpiece, we kept it really simple and displayed one of the fairy gardens our little one had made before the party.

FAIRY FOOD

Since we concentrated more on the games, we kept our party food fairly simple (typical party food).  We did, however, have a few fairy-themed snacks that they could create on their own:

  • Fairy Fruit Wands:  We had a number of different berries and sliced fruit spread out so kids could make ‘fairy fruit wands’ with their skewers.  The only caveat — they had to eat all the fruit on every wand they made (easy AND fun way to get them all eating fruit!)
  • Make a Bird Nest: Pretzels (Twigs) and String Cheese Slices (Bird Eggs).  So this one doesn’t necessarily have a fairy in them but we all know fairies and friendly birds are great pairs.

ACTIVITY TABLE

We typically set up an activity table for kids to keep entertained while everyone arrives AND after all the games are done.  These activities are simple and easy and typically don’t require too much supervision.

  • Sticker Sheets: Though this set of DIY Flower Garden Sticker Scenes doesn’t exactly have a fairy in them, they are filled with flowers and gardens – home to many fairies 😉
  • Wooden Fairy Ornaments: For this one, we used some paint pens (slightly less messy than actual paint) and let each kid paint a Wood Fairy
  • Fairy Lanterns: There are definitely some really awesome kits out there but opted to keep things simple as we had a few kiddos.  We picked up a set of plastic jars, fairy lights, and a few shades of glitter paint.  Then we let them paint away!

GAMES

  • Pin the Wand on the Fairy:  You could definitely create a ‘pin the object’ type game on your own and use a bit of cloth for the blindfold, but we opted to purchase this one: Pin the Wand on the Fairy Game.  It had everything needed to set up the game and there were  just enough stars for each kid to have a turn or two.  (Note: There are only 12 star stickers, so if you have a larger group you might want to supplement the star stickers or opt for a larger one).
  • Fairy Scavenger Hunt: While we set up a mini fairy house next to each table setting, we also had a few scattered around the party area.  We also hid some packets of moss as well as another fairy accessory (door, flower, windmill, etc).  Each kid had to find those items so they could create their fairy garden!
  • Fairy Gardens:  Now that everyone had at least one fairy house, cardboard base, Wooden Cutout, packet of moss, and an additional fairy accessory, they could create their own fairy gardens!  (We had a few extra tucked away in case kids wanted to trade).

GOODIE BAGS

All the sticker sheets, lanterns, and fairy gardens that each kid created could take their creations home with them, so we kept our goodie bags really really simple.   We had a small fairy bag with a bit of candy in them.  We also let them keep the fairy wings they had used throughout the party, so they could go home as fairies 🙂
