Spectacular Splash! An Easy & Memorable Mermaid Birthday Party at the Beach

Has your little one asked you for a mermaid party?  What better way to do so than bringing everyone to the beach!  While you may need to forego some of the beautiful setup that you can normally have in your house, your guests won’t complain as they squeal with delight in the water and build their sand castles!  Check out our ideas for a mermaid beach party here!

Try out a few of these suggestions below and let us know how it goes and what you think!

DECOR

An underwater decorative theme may be a bit difficult at the beach, but you’ve already got your scenery!  You can still bring in some mermaids with plates, napkins, and towels.

Also, you may want to pack some extra sunscreen, paper towels/wipes, and vests for your guests.

For our little one mermaid, we purchased a Wave Print Swim Suit and a Mermaid Swim Tail Cover Up both from Target.

GAMES

The beach itself is one big playground so we didn’t have too many structured games planned out!

In addition to the buckets we gave each child, we had several of our own that we brought for the kids to play with.  When one starts making a castle, the rest follow, and soon you have an entire village of mini castles 🙂  Just make sure to keep the little ones who like to stomp on them at bay until the other kiddos are done building 🙂

We also had a ‘Search for Seashells” activity.  We passed out a few sand sifters and had the kiddos find as many seashells as they could 🙂

And of course – what would a beach trip be without some splashing in the water!

GOODIE BAGS

Our goodie bags served some double duty for our party guests.  We headed over to the Dollar Store and picked up a few Beach Buckets, bubbles, mermaid cups, and some mermaid themed puzzles/crafts.   We gave them their “goodie bags” at the start of the party so they could use their pails and bubbles throughout the party!
