If you’ve seen any of our other posts, you’ll know that we have a few dragon fans in the house!  So of course, one of our kids asked for a dragon themed Christmas party and we were all in!  Read on to check out the fun!

THE TABLE

No need to go all out with decorations for this party – If you’re household is into dragons, you may already have some figures or figurines lying around the house. With just a few mini Christmas hats, you can turn your beloved dragon decorations into a fun & festive Christmas decor!

Since we had older elementary age kids for this one, we opted to decorate the table with actual plates instead of paper ones 🙂  We used some black plates along with some frosted pinecones as napkin holders for each setting.  We also had a dragon ornament set up next to each plate (since these dragons are sitting on spheres, we used a small plastic cup to hold them up).  To make them a bit more festive, we added some mini Santa hats.  (We used a set we already had – Mini Elf Hats, but you could also find a set with just mini Santa hats).

Our centerpiece was fairly simple – we had a moss table runner and placed some candles along with a dragon figurine (also dressed up in a Santa hat).   We did not light the candles but tried to position the dragon so it looked like it could breathe fire onto the wicks 🙂

FOOD & DRINKS

For this party, we didn’t go all out with a party food table, but we have done so in other dragon themed parties.  Check out our Dragon Party Food Table or other Dragon Articles to look through some ideas.

ACTIVITIES

  • Since we had kids that read through quite a few dragon books, it was a bit fun (& silly) for them to figure out which dragon characters they were from some of their favorite series. (It’s also super easy – pass around a tablet or phone to take turns – no hassle, no set up 🙂 ) . We picked these but there are tons more for other dragon series, so check around to find one for your kid’s favorite series!
  • On our table, we spread out a few dragon charm pendants both as a decoration & as a chance for the kids to pick one or two they really liked.  We had a jewelry making station so after lunch, the kids could create a necklace and/or bracelet with the dragon charm they picked along with some other trinkets (Colored Glitter Sand to fill Mini Glass Bottle Charms) as well as some beads.  Honestly, they had just as much fun filling the charm bottles with different colors as they did making the entire necklace. After all, it’s glitter – who can resist! Note: you may want to have some strong glue at the ready to glue in the tops for the necklaces.

GOODIE BAGS:

We went very simple with our “goodie bag” this time around.  Instead of filling up a bag with treats and trinkets, we handed out Stuffed Christmas Dragons “to adopt”.  They’re small – but not too small – about six inches, so it’s a sizable stuffed animal to pass out to everyone.  Our dragon fan guests LOVED them 🙂

Everyone also took home the necklaces and bracelets they made throughout the party.
