Looking for the ultimate kid’s birthday party – throw an EPIC Gotham inspired party celebrating the dark and mysterious Batman! Read on to check out our easy ideas on decorations, table settings, games, and activities.
DECORATIONS

While you can definitely go all out with store bought Batman, you can also keep costs low by creating some DIY decorations!
A solid black backdrop with a large Batman symbol sets the theme for a night sky. Then add some upcycle cardboard boxes wrapped in black with some yellow squares for buildings! And you’ve instantly got a Gotham City backdrop! We also purchased a Party Supplies Kit with some balloons and banners to decorate the space. We also spread out some Batman Stickers all over the party area!
THE PHOTO AREA

Photo backdrops are a great way of setting a theme and double as a nice and easy activity! Pick a backdrop that functions as decorative, add a few props to the scene and you’ve got a great place
For our party, we opted for a simple Batman Backdrop, which showcased the famous batman logo!
And, if you wanted to add some extra flair, you could set out some Batman Masks (Or Batman Printable Masks) from Mandy’s Printables
Note, you don’t have to go all out with a photo backdrop stand either. Grab a few pieces of tape and an empty wall & you’re all set!
THE TABLE

Our table was quite simple with solid black plates and cups along with Batman Napkins. While we can’t find the link to our napkins anymore, you can find quite a few different options for some plates and napkins online as well (Batman Party Supplies, Bat Superhero Kit).
GAMES & ACTIVITIES

We typically set up an activity table(s) for kids to keep entertained while everyone arrives AND after all the games are done. These activities are simple and easy and typically don’t require too much supervision.
- “Tattoo Station”: This one is super simple and just requires a few items. Grab a few Batman Tattoos and let kids pick one or two to add to their arms 🙂
- Coloring Pages: There are some great printables on I Heart Craft Things (Batman Printables) and Monday Mondala (Batman Printables). Or, purchase a coloring book and set some pages out 🙂
And then, of course, we have the party games. After all, what’s a party without some fun and memorable games??? Kids will definitely have fun just running around and coming up with their own games, BUT adding in a few themed games will definitely be a hit with your guests! Here were a few of ours.
- Batman Training Circuit. Superhero parties are sooo fun because you can easily create an AMAZING obstacle course for ‘superhero’ training!!! If you want to go really all out, you can create a whole ‘training course’ where they have to complete a task before they move on (we’ve done this in some of our other parties – Marvel Superhero Training Party, Pokemon Trainers Party), but for this party, we simply had a few ‘obstacles’ to push through.
- Strength Building: In this station, kids had to ‘lift weights’ (which were really just styrofoam circles covered in black tissue paper). Alternatively, you could also use some Water Weights or go all out with Fake Weights for a more realistic look.
- Fitness Training: Space permitting, set up a ‘running track’ (or in our case, run from point A to point B 🙂
- Martial Arts Training: Using some upcycled package boxes and Melissa & Doug Jumbo Blocks, we let the kids ‘kick’ or ‘punch’ the boxes down.
- Mental Conditioning: For this one, you can use any puzzles or riddles to solve (or in our case, puzzles from the Dollar Tree).
- Sticker Hunt: This activity works soooo well that we use it in almost every party toward the end! Stickers are a great way of decorating party tables (as table scatter). For some of our last activities, we have a ‘sticker hunt’ and let the little ones run around collecting as many as possible! They get to keep or trade whichever ones they find! For this party, kids picked up the Batman Stickers that were spread out around the party area!
And while we didn’t have these games at our party, you could also add these in for some more party fun.
GIVEAWAYS AND GOODIE BAGS
What’s a party without a few giveaways 🙂 In addition to any crafts they made, we added some more Batman Stickers and black flashlights into their goodie bags.
