Who’s ready for Truckloads of Thanksgiving Fun!  Okay, so technically, we’re not talking about actual sized trucks, but this party is still packed with tons of fun and games.  Keep the kids busy throughout the day while you’re in the kitchen OR decorate their dinner table with some fun after-dinner activities!  Read on to check out the fun!

THE TABLE

For these activities, we opted to set up our ‘truck loads of fun’ on the actual kids table as additional decorations (and incentive to finish their dinner 🙂 ) BUT you could also just set up an activity table and let the kids pick through activities throughout the day.

We set up the table with some autumn decorations along with some trucks carrying pumpkins (these types of decorations are usually everywhere around Thanksgiving).  We also laid out a few Painted Autumn Truck and Mini Pumpkin Embellishments as table scatter decorations.

The main eye-catching pieces were the two Vintage Truck Treat Stands.   These cardboard pieces are meant to hold some treats but we used them to hold some DIY crafts, mini lego polybags, sticker sheets, and more!

For each table setting, we opted for some Autumn Truck plates (Unfortunately, I don’t have a working link for these paper plates but a quick search and there are some other options online! – Harvest Truck Dinnerware – so search around to find one that fits your theme!).  Also next to each setting, we had a Mini Farm Truck next to each table setting which doubled as a cute decoration AND part of a game later on!

THE PHOTO BOOTH

If you’ve seen any of our other parties, you’re likely familiar with our love of photo backdrops!  They’re great ways of setting the scene and also giving party guests an added, low-prep activity!  We used an Autumn Forest Backdrop but you can definitely find  a few others that may fit the autumn-truck theme as well – Fall Backdrop!

We didn’t have any hay bales lying around but we did set up an upcycled (sort of) truck! If you’re little ones are fairly small, they likely enjoy boxes as much as the toys that come in them! Wrap some large package boxes in a solid color and you can create a makeshift truck – add a little imagination & they’re playing all day long 🙂

Note, you don’t have to go all out with a photo backdrop stand either.  Grab a few pieces of tape and an empty wall & you’re all set!

ACTIVITIES

Most of our activities were bundled into the Vintage Truck Treat Stands.  We filled them with autumn and Thanksgiving crafts from orientaltrading.com, the Dollar Tree, and other craft stores as well as little Farm Garden & Scarecrow Lego Kits!

In addition to some of the all-in-one kit crafts, we also had a few more fun activities to add to the day:

  • Wood Truck Painting.  In keeping with the theme, if you’ve got a young, crafty bunch, you can pick up some wood slices for them to color – paint pens work great on these but markers would do the trick too (Color Your Own Harvest Truck Sign and Unfinished Wooden Cutout Fall Truck)
  • Wood slice Thanksgiving Decorations.  Use the Painted Autumn Truck and Mini Pumpkin Embellishments and attach to a wood slice, cardboard, or small sturdy flat item, add a sweet Thank you note & hand to a loved one 🙂
  • Mini Truck Races.  Time to grab your Mini Farm Trucks and set up some races!  Send them across the finish line and see who gets there first OR see who can transport the most pumpkins in a short amount of time!  (Mini matchbox cars and leftover candy corn would work great too!)
