A Simple & Sweet Little Turtle Party for Kids
Tagged Tags: , ,

Does your little one have a bit of love for turtles?  Share in the joy with family and friends with a turtle-themed party!  These decorations and activities are sure to bring some smiles to the event.  Read on to check out the fun!

THE TABLE

We tried to keep things pretty simple with this party, so we really only purchased a few store bought turtle-themed items: Turtle Cupcake Holder, Wooden Turtle Craft Shape (these were from the clearance section at Michaels but you could find them in most hobby or craft stores), and Craft Seashells.   The rest of the table are solid colors: blues, turquoise, green, lime greens.   We also cut out some turtle shapes out of felt sheets and placed green bowls upside down onto the felt to look like turtle shells.   The kids thought they were so cute – they ended up keeping them while we had to bring out other bowls for their ice cream 🙂

FOOD & DRINKS

Sprinkle in a few turtle or ocean themed food ideas, and your party will be a hit 🙂

  • Turtle Jello Cups.   Create a few mini jello turtles before the party by making some green jello in mini plastic cups.   Then turn them upside down and place them on a turtle outline cut out of construction paper (or add a green pom pom for the head 🙂
  • Turtle Bites.  Chocolate turtles.  Need we say more :):):)
  • If you can find these Savoritz Turtle Baked Snack Crackers (though they only seem to sell them at Aldi’s), they can be a cute addition to the snack table.  Otherwise, regular old goldfish or penguin crackers will do too!
  • Turtle Table: fill the “Turtle Snack Table” with food that a turtle might eat – lettuce, berries, etc..

ACTIVITIES

We had a younger group for this one, so our activities were easy to do crafts as well as a few turtle themed games.

GIANT MOSAIC TURTLE-SHAPED STICKER SCENE: This is a cute and simple activity where the kids can design the turtle shells in any way they want using the stickers.  It kept the kids occupied for quite a bit 🙂

TURTLE ACTIVITY BUCKET: This is a relatively inexpensive craft where kids can design their own turtles using some of the self-adhesive stickers.  It’s another craft where everything is in the box, so very minimal setup.  The box makes 24, so it’s a nice set to just lay out onto a craft table 🙂

WOODEN TURTLE CRAFT SHAPES: You can typically find these types of shapes at dollar stores or craft stores for just a few dollars (sometimes less).  Markers work on these but the colors will be brighter with paint.  We also laid out some glue and sequins if the kids wanted to use those instead.

TURTLE MEMORY:  This one is a version of memory but tweaked a bit to make it more fun for the kids.  For this one, we purchased Mini Turtle Figurines and Large Scallop Seashells.   The mini turtles went under the seashells, so the kids had to lift the seashells in order to find pairs.   (We’ve also set up a simpler, paper version of ‘turtle memory’ for one of our Learning Fun days.  Check it out here).

THE GOODIE BAG

In addition to the typical goodie bag items like candy, we added in some Turtle Stickers, Turtle Bites, and a Mini Turtle Figurine.   They also kept all the crafts they created throughout the party.
