Welcome to our “Think, Craft, Repeat – A Minecraft Week” – an at home week filled with days of relaxed learning and fun activities all themed to the ever popular game – Minecraft! After all, what better way to get them to keep learning than to pick a theme they already think is fun!
For this week, rather than focusing on just the Minecraft game and how to play, we used their love of the game to dig deeper into the history of the game and learn more about very popular characters! After our intro day, where we set up our space, we studied a character each day – what they do in the came, their origin story, and learned while we crafted, experimented, and read stories!
Read through to check out our ideas on ways to decorate your camp area, find links to fun & educational videos, books – fiction and non-fiction, writing prompts or story telling ideas, science experiments, food crafts & snacks, and kid-friendly crafts all themed for the week!
DAY ONE: An Introductory Day

Minecraft may need no introduction but our Think, Craft, Repeat – A Minecraft Week did! While we all know and love playing Minecraft, the focus of this week wasn’t to learn all about how to get through modes, build structures, or tips or tricks. So, once that clarification was done, we started setting up our space by bring out all our Minecraft toys and books! Then we watched and learned a bit about the history and origin of Minecraft! And we – of course – did let them build in Minecraft BUT they had to create a story and setting to go along with their build! Click here to check out full details of the day!
DAY TWO: Creepy Creepers!

Our first character of the week was of course one of the most iconic – the Creeper! It’s easily one of the most recognizable characters of Minecraft and is even part of the official logo. For this day, we learned all about the oh-so-terrifying creepers and how they came to be in the game! It has an interesting origin story – one we never would have guessed if we hadn’t looked into it! And it’s a great way to show kids that even if things don’t turn out exactly as planned, they can still make things turn out much better! Click here to check out full details of the day!
DAY THREE: Llamas

Adorable or terrifying? These passive mob creatures can be quiet useful in Minecraft! For this day, we learned all about their origin story and a bit about their creator! Click here to check out full details of the day!
DAY FOUR: Steve & Alex

One cannot have a Minecraft week without including Steve & Alex! Though their characters have no true origin story in the game, how and why the creators added them is quite interesting! Click here to check out full details of the day!
Day FIVE: The End – the Ender Dragon

And what better way to end Minecraft week with a visit to the End! With the Ender Dragon of course! This fun filled day capped off our week by learning about the ender dragon complete with dragon-themed crafts and activities! Click here to check out full details of the day!
FINISH OF THE WEEK!
Whew! What a week! After all that thinking, crafting, and repeating, there are quite a few ways to celebrate the end of Minecraft week!
The most obvious answer is to let loose on the game!!! Whether your creating or surviving, playing Minecraft is a perfect way to wrap up the week!
And, if you’re all spent & just want to relax, grab some popcorn and watch the Minecraft Movie!!!
BUT, if you’re still in the mood for some celebration, end the week with an ULTIMATE Minecraft Party!
