Be our guest!!!  Welcome to our Beauty & the Beast party perfect for the fans of the book loving princess and the mysterious Beast!  Our party blends inspiration and colors from the beloved Disney tale and the nods from the timeless original books from Gabrielle‑Suzanne de Villeneuve and Jeanne‑Marie Leprince de Beaumont.  Read on to check it out!

DECORATIONS

Roses! Roses! Roses!  The rose is central in Beauty & the Beast, so we had quite a few red roses – real & plastic – all over the party area.  We also opted for decorations with nods to the story instead of the actual animated characters.

PHOTO AREA

Photo backdrops are a great way of setting a theme and double as a nice and easy activity!  Pick a backdrop that functions as decorative, add a few props to the scene and you’ve got a great place to hang out!

For this party, we brought out our Fairy Tale Book Backdrop but palace backdrops (Medieval Bookshelf Backdrop, Palace Backdrop) or Beauty and the Beast inspired backdrops (Beast Palace Backdrop, Red Rose Backdrop) would work perfectly too!

Note, you don’t have to go all out with a photo backdrop stand either.  Grab a few pieces of tape and an empty wall & you’re all set!

THE TABLE

For our party, we opted for dressing up the table with the blues and yellows like the movie and celebrated the love of reading with book-themed plates (Princess and the Beast Party Plates) & chocolate roses for each setting. We also added a few more roses as well as books in the center.

PARTY FOOD

No party is complete without some party food!  Thanks to a joyous song filled with dinner and dancing, audiences are thrilled to see some of the delicious dishes the kitchen prepares for Belle – beef ragu, cheese souffle, anyone?  In addition to those fan favorites, we also added some food mentioned in the original book by Villeneuve and the retelling by Beaumont.

  • Hors d’oeuvres
  • Oranges
  • Viands
  • Chicken
  • Beef ragu
  • Cheese souffle
  • Pudding
  • Chocolates
  • Grey stuff
  • Cake
  • Hot chocolate
  • Tea

ACTIVITY TABLE

We typically set up an activity table for kids to keep entertained while everyone arrives AND after all the games are done.  These activities are simple and easy and typically don’t require too much supervision!

  • Book Exchange: In a nod to Belle’s love of books, we invited our guests to ‘take a book’ and ‘leave a book’ if they wanted to.
  • Book List Recommendation: We also added a book list recommendation station, so guests could share their love of some of their favorite books without bringing them in to trade 😉
  • Bookmark Craft: No book-themed party is complete without a bookmark craft!  We created a few basic bookmarks but also had some blank ones with some items to decorate them with
  • Rose Craft: We bought some Mini Roses and used some empty snow globes to guest recreate their own mini enchanted rose.

GOODIE BAGS & GIVE WAYS

Our guests were free to take home any crafts they made throughout the party.  We also gave them some trinkets with Beauty and the Beast on them as well as mini journals to jot down their own stories 😉
